Green Card Renewal or Replacement: Your Step-by-Step Guide

Need to renew or replace your Green Card? Don't worry, it's easier than you think! Here's a simplified guide to both processes:

Renewal:

1. Form I-90 is your friend: Fill out and submit this form (Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card). You can do it online or by mail.

2. Gather your documents: Double-check the instructions on Form I-90 for any required documents, like a copy of your expiring Green Card.

3. Pay the fee: It's listed on the USCIS website. You can pay online or send a check/money order with your mail application.

4. Biometrics appointment (sometimes): USCIS will let you know if you need one for fingerprints and photos.

5. Wait and track: USCIS will process your application. Use their online case status tool to check its progress.

Replacement:

1. Still Form I-90: Same form applies for lost, stolen, or damaged cards.

2. Report it! (if lost or stolen): File a report with your local police and get a copy for your records.

3. Gather documents: Include any required documents.

4. Pay the fee: It's the same one for renewals, check the USCIS website.

5. Biometrics appointment : Attend as required.

6. Wait and track: Just like renewals, you can monitor progress online.

Note: If you don’t have a copy or photo of your green card, you still CAN apply for a replacement :)
