US Passport with Dual Citizenship?

Having both U.S. citizenship and citizenship from another country (dual citizenship) doesn't prevent you from getting a U.S. passport. Here's a quick guide:

Eligibility:

  • U.S. citizen by birth, naturalization, or other lawful means? You're good to go!

Dual Citizenship:

  • No worries! Having another passport won't affect your U.S. passport application.

Traveling Smart:

  • Check entry/exit requirements for both your countries. Some require using their specific passport.

Applying for a New Passport:

  • Gather proof of U.S. citizenship (birth certificate, etc.)

  • Complete form DS-11 (first-time applicants)

  • Pay the required fees

Renewing Your Passport:

  • Standard renewal process applies even with dual citizenship.

  • Use form DS-82 (eligible applicants)

  • Submit your current U.S. passport and fees

Remember:

  • Dual citizenship doesn't exempt you from U.S. laws regarding passports and travel.

  • Research specific requirements based on your situation.
