L-1 Visa: Family Allowed in the US?

Thinking about bringing your family to the US with your L-1 visa? Here’s a quick guide:

  • Who Can Come? Spouse & unmarried children under 21 on L-2 visas.

  • Spouse Can Work: They can apply for an EAD to get work authorization.

  • Children Can’t Work: They can attend school but not work automatically.

  • Application Process: Include family info in your L-1 application or file Form I-539 later.

  • Stay Duration: They can stay as long as your L-1 visa is valid (subject to USCIS limitations).

Remember: L-2 visas allow your family to live with you, but your spouse will need a separate work permit (EAD) to work legally.
