Pending Adjustment of Status and Replacement Citizenship?
Misplaced your citizenship certificate? Don't panic! You can still apply for a replacement, even if you have a pending Form N-565 application (for replacing lost documents) as part of your adjustment of status process (Form I-485).
The N-565 is your friend: This form helps you get a new Certificate of Naturalization, Certificate of Citizenship, or Declaration of Intention if the original is lost, stolen, damaged, or has wrong information.
Urgent Need? Expedite It!
Even with a pending N-565 application, if you urgently need a replacement certificate (for travel or a job, for example), you can request expedited processing.
Explain Your Situation: Write a clear cover letter explaining why you need the certificate ASAP.
Show Proof (Optional): Include evidence supporting your urgency, like flight tickets or a job offer letter.
Separate Applications, One Happy Ending:
USCIS will keep processing your original N-565 application separately from your adjustment of status. If you get your replacement certificate before your adjustment of status is approved, let USCIS know about your updated citizenship status.
