If I am from American Samoa or Puerto Rico, do I need to file and N-400?
YES, you MUST file an N-400 if you want to become a US Citizen even if you are from any of those countries. There’s a spacial option on the N-400 form for those cases.
I’m replacing my green card but want to apply for citizenship, Can I do that?
YES, you can apply for Citizenship even If you haven’t received your green card yet.
How much does it costs to Apply for Citizenship?
$725 to USCIS.
If someone else is assisting with your paperwork for this process, you need to add that fee to the USCIS fee.
I’m divorce and want to change my name, can I do that with my citizenship?
YES, you just need to provide a copy of your divorce certificate.
And If I just want to change my name but I’m not divorce?
As long as you file your N-400 properly and declare you want to change your name on the form, you CAN change your name.
Can I obtain a discount for my citizenship?
YES
If you receive help from the government (food stamps, Cal-Fresh, Medicaid..) or If you do your taxes (and your income is lower than a determinated amount stablished by USCIS) you CAN apply for a Discount fee and pay less.
