USCIS Back Offices Appear to be Working but, Face to Face Offices Still Closed Until June 4th
Our customers are reporting to us that they are receiving I-797 documents on their cases such as Renewal of Permanent Resident Card, Citizenship, Family Sponsorship and Replacement of Naturalization Certificate for example. These duties usually begin at the National Center in Phoenix then sent out to the various offices.
According to the USCIS webiste, https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/uscis-response-covid-19 they will stay closed until June 4th. This would mean interacting with the customers face to face. They have stated that they will perform back office duties that do not require customer engagement.
We are seeing people receive mail correspondence and online correspondence of their cases. The USCIS has instructions on their website that the phone calls will not take place until May 5th.
I think we should still wait and see on the field offices based on what each State determines.
We will keep you posted as we hear what is taking place.
Remember, no field offices open until June, no phone calls until May 5th and only back office duties are being performed.
