What is the Immigrant Fee & How Much Does it Cost?

The immigrant fee is a cost paid by United States immigrants who plan to become permanent residents. These individuals are almost always required to pay this fee in order to receive their Permanent Resident Card (some call this a Green Card). This fee can be paid before the immigrant migrates to the United States.

If it is not paid prior to entering the United States, then USCIS will send a notice to pay the fee. In this notice USCIS will also provide information on how the fee can be paid. In almost all cases, if this fee is not settled then the immigrant will not be given a Permanent Resident Card (Green Card).

How much is this immigrant fee? The USCIS was recently charging 220 dollars to process immigrant visa packets and generate Permanent Resident Cards but.. This fee may change at the will of USCIS. If you would like to get an estimate of your fees please click this link.
